Troubleshoot Dark or Dim Lighting
Check Shader Settings are Enabled
Open your shader menu and confirm the shader pack is active. If it appears off or disabled, re-enable it and restart your world.
Verify Colored Lighting is On
In shader settings, look for the colored lighting toggle. If it's disabled, turn it on. This is especially important in low-profile setups where it may default to off.
Adjust Lighting Intensity
Find the lighting intensity or brightness slider in your shader options. If the world looks too dark:
- Increase the intensity value
- Test the change in-game
- Repeat until lighting feels right
Check Your Brightness Setting
This is separate from shader settings. Open your Minecraft video settings and ensure your monitor brightness and in-game brightness slider aren't set too low.
Test with Light Sources
Place a torch or lantern nearby. If colored light from the source is visible but the overall world is still dim, your intensity setting needs adjustment. If even the light source is barely visible, your profile may be too low—try upgrading to a higher preset.
Remember that BVSF maintains vanilla aesthetics, so nighttime will still be dark; this is intentional.
