Enable Colored Lighting from Light Sources

Understand Colored Lighting

Colored lighting makes torches, lava, glowing blocks, and other light sources cast their color across nearby surfaces. A torch casts warm orange light, lava glows red, and glowing blocks emit their unique hues.

Verify the Feature is Active

Open your shader settings menu and confirm that colored lighting is enabled. In lower profiles it may be disabled by default to save performance.

See It in Action

Place light sources around your build:

  • Torches cast warm, orange-tinted light
  • Lava spreads red and yellow glow
  • Glowing blocks (like amethyst or sculk catalysts) emit their block color
  • Lanterns and soul lanterns cast colored light in larger areas

Build in darker areas or at night to see the effect most clearly. The colored light will spread across nearby blocks, walls, and floors, creating atmospheric lighting that changes the mood of your builds.

Adjust Intensity

If colored lighting feels too strong or too subtle, return to shader settings and adjust the lighting intensity slider to your preference.
