Optimize Water Appearance and Reflections
Locate Water Settings
In the shader options menu, find water-related controls. These typically include water clarity, reflection strength, wave intensity, and caustic effects.
Enhance Water Clarity
Adjust transparency settings to control how far you can see through water. Increase clarity for tropical or shallow water aesthetics; decrease it for murky swamps or deep oceans. This affects both visibility and the fantasy feel of your world.
Configure Reflections
Reflection strength determines how much the sky, terrain, and objects mirror in water surfaces. Higher values create more dramatic, realistic reflections but demand more performance. Lower values maintain the fantasy style while reducing GPU load.
Adjust Wave and Caustic Effects
Wave intensity controls water surface animation. Caustics add underwater light patterns. Both enhance immersion but impact frame rates. For older systems, reduce these effects moderately while keeping water visually distinct from terrain.
Test Across Biomes
Visit different water environments—oceans, rivers, and rain—to ensure settings work well in varied contexts. Reflections and clarity should enhance navigation and aesthetics without causing confusion.
