Understanding Buried vs. Surface Shipwrecks

Key Differences

Buried wrecks spawn underground in caves and stone, while vanilla surface shipwrecks still generate on ocean floors and beaches unchanged. Both types can exist in the same world simultaneously.

Identical Loot

Both buried and surface wrecks use the same vanilla shipwreck loot tables. You'll find the same items—enchanted books, maps, supplies, and valuables—in either location. The only difference is where you find them.

Exploration Impact

Buried wrecks make cave exploration more rewarding by adding structured loot locations underground. You no longer need to travel to oceans to find shipwreck treasure. This encourages deeper caving and makes underground mining runs more profitable.

No Conflicts

Since the mod doesn't modify surface shipwrecks, your existing world generation remains intact. Ocean wrecks generate normally, and buried wrecks add a new underground variant. You can experience both without any issues or changes to vanilla behavior.
