Finding Your First Buried Wreck

Where to Look

Buried wrecks spawn underground within configured Y-level ranges. They're most commonly found while caving or mining, rather than on the surface. Start exploring cave systems at various depths—they can appear in any biome where caves generate.

How to Recognize One

Look for the distinctive wooden ship structure embedded in stone, dirt, or cave walls. The wreck will have the same appearance as surface shipwrecks, with wood beams, planks, and a characteristic hull shape. You may spot them partially exposed in cave ceilings or walls.

What to Bring

Pack basic mining tools (pickaxe, shovel) and a weapon for cave mobs. Bring torches to light your way and mark your path back. Consider bringing a chest or crafting table if you plan to sort loot on-site.

Looting Strategy

Once found, break open the wreck carefully to access chests inside. These contain vanilla shipwreck loot—useful supplies, enchanted books, and valuable items. Take your time exploring the structure; loot is distributed across multiple chests.
