Adjust Lighting to Reduce Eye Strain While Building
Access Shader Settings
Open your pause menu and navigate to Options → Video Settings → Shaders. Look for the shader configuration button (usually a gear icon or settings panel next to the active shader name). This opens the shader control menu.
Fine-Tune Brightness and Contrast
Within the shader settings, locate sliders for:
- Brightness — increase if caves feel too dark for detail work
- Contrast — adjust to make block edges clearer without harsh shadows
- Ambient Light — raise this to soften harsh shadows on your builds
Test Your Changes
Apply settings and return to your world. Spend a few minutes building in different lighting conditions—caves, open sky, and indoors. If shadows still obscure details, increase ambient light further. If the world looks washed out, reduce brightness slightly.
Save Your Preference
Once comfortable, your settings save automatically. You can reset to defaults anytime by selecting Reset to Default in the shader menu if you want to start over.
Tip: Adjust settings during the time of day that matches when you usually build.
