Sort Items Automatically Using Colored Pipes

Understand Pipe Types

Build Craft pipes come in different varieties:

• Wooden Pipes: Extract items from adjacent chests or machines
• Iron Pipes: Standard transport with no filtering
• Diamond Pipes: Sort items by type into separate directions
• Obsidian Pipes: Vacuum up dropped items from the ground
• Colored Pipes: Restrict flow to specific colors (dye them with dyes)

Set Up Diamond Pipe Sorting

Place a diamond pipe at a junction where multiple pipe routes branch out. Right-click the diamond pipe to open its filter menu. Assign specific item types to each output direction—ores go left, stone goes right, etc.

Connect destination chests to each output. Items traveling through the diamond pipe will automatically route to the correct container based on your filter settings.

Expand Your Network

Combine multiple diamond pipes in series to create complex sorting systems. Use colored pipes to prevent cross-contamination between different material streams. Power wooden pipes with engines to actively pull items from machines rather than waiting for passive flow.
