Set Up Your First Quarry for Automated Mining
Mark Your Mining Area
Place landmarks around the perimeter of the area you want to mine. Click each landmark with a wrench to set the quarry boundaries. Landmarks must form a complete rectangular zone—gaps will cause the quarry to malfunction.
Connect Power and Pipes
Place the quarry block adjacent to one of your marked boundaries. Attach an engine (Redstone, Stirling, or Combustion) directly next to the quarry—the engine must touch the quarry to transfer power.
Connect wooden or iron pipes to the top output of the quarry. Run these pipes to nearby storage chests or hoppers to collect mined blocks.
Start Mining
Power your engine with the appropriate fuel:
- Redstone Engine: Needs redstone signal pulses (use a clock or lever)
- Stirling Engine: Burns solid fuel like coal or charcoal
- Combustion Engine: Requires liquid fuel from refined oil
Once powered, the quarry will dig downward in a grid pattern until it reaches bedrock. Use diamond pipes along your pipe route to sort valuable ores into separate containers.
