Extract and Refine Oil Into Usable Fuel
Locate and Tap Oil Springs
Oil springs generate naturally underground in the world. Look for dark liquid pools while mining or explore caves. Once found, place a pump adjacent to the oil spring block.
Transport Oil to Refinery
Connect pipes (wooden, iron, or stone) to the pump's output. Run these pipes to a refinery block. Use a combustion engine or other power source to activate the pump—it will begin extracting oil into the connected pipe network.
Process Fuel Tiers
The refinery converts crude oil into progressively refined fuels:
- First stage produces basic fuel
- Continued heating creates higher-tier fuels with more energy output
Connect the refinery output to storage tanks or directly to combustion engines. Higher-tier fuels burn longer and produce more mechanical power, making them ideal for powering large quarries or multiple machines simultaneously.
Monitor your fuel supply and set up additional oil extraction points if your factory demands exceed production.
