Farming Sculk Catalysts for XP

Finding Sculk Catalysts

Sculk catalysts naturally generate in the Deep Dark biome, typically found at Y-level 0 and below. Use a pickaxe to mine them efficiently. Without this mod, they drop only 5 XP per block, but with Buffed Sculk Catalysts installed, each catalyst yields 20 XP instead.

Setting Up an XP Farm

To maximize XP gains:

1. Locate a Deep Dark biome using a map or by exploring underground

2. Mark the locations of sculk catalyst clusters

3. Mine catalysts with any pickaxe (silk touch is optional)

4. Collect the XP orbs that drop

Because catalysts now drop quadruple the XP, farming them becomes a viable early-to-mid game XP source. Combine multiple catalyst locations into a circuit route for efficient grinding. Be cautious of the Warden spawning when you trigger sculk sensors nearby—consider mining carefully or using sound-dampening strategies.

Tips

The XP gain scales with each catalyst mined, so larger Deep Dark caverns with dense catalyst clusters are ideal farming locations. Return periodically as catalysts regenerate in active chunks.
