Distinguishing Tool Damage Across Different Materials
Material-Specific Wear Patterns
Each tool material displays damage differently, helping you quickly identify what you're holding:
- Wooden and stone tools: Show chipped heads and splintered handles as they wear
- Iron and gold tools: Display progressive cracks along their blades and surfaces
- Diamond tools: Exhibit fractured edges and heavy wear patterns across their faces
- Netherite tools: Show visible wear across their dark surfaces, with cracks becoming prominent
Recognizing Flashing Alerts by Material
Most tools flash white when durability drops below ten percent. However, diamond and netherite tools have an additional red flash at one percent durability, signaling imminent failure. This distinction helps you prioritize repairs on your most valuable gear.
Using Appearance for Quick Decisions
The visual progression lets you assess tool condition at a glance during combat or mining. Heavily damaged tools show obvious wear, while lightly used tools appear nearly pristine. This makes it easy to decide whether to continue using a tool or switch to a fresh one without opening menus.
