How to Place Blocks in Mid-Air (Front, Above, and Below)

Understanding the placement directions

Bridging Mod lets you place blocks into empty space that your normal reach would not cover. The key is where you aim. Looking straight ahead at a gap places a block in front of you at foot level. Looking upward places a block above your head. Looking downward places a block below you, which is how you extend a bridge while walking forward without sneaking.

Step-by-step

1. Hold a placeable block in your main hand.

2. Aim your crosshair at the empty space where you want the block to appear, not at an existing block face.

3. Watch for the special crosshair indicator — it changes to show that a valid air placement is available.

4. Right-click to place. The block snaps into the highlighted position.

5. If you enable the F3 debug menu, an outline box appears around the exact target position, which helps when you are unsure whether the game will place in front, above, or below.

Tips

  • Walk forward while looking down to lay a continuous bridge under your feet.
  • Look up and right-click to build a ceiling or overhang without pillar-jumping.
  • Partial blocks like slabs work the same way, so you can bridge with them too.
