How the Break Free Mod Works

Continuing to Break Blocks After Switching Items

In vanilla Minecraft, the moment you switch to a different item or empty your hand, any block you were mining resets. The progress you had made is lost, and you have to start over from the beginning. The Break Free Mod changes this single behavior.

With the mod installed, breaking a block is no longer tied to holding the same item. If you start mining a block and then switch to another item in your hotbar, the block keeps breaking as if you never switched. The mining progress carries over instead of resetting.

This is a one-mixin mod, meaning it makes a small, targeted change to the game rather than adding new items, blocks, or menus. There is nothing to configure and no new controls to learn. You simply mine as usual, and switching items mid-break no longer interrupts you. The effect applies whenever you change the item you are holding while a block is being broken.
