Create Sharp Visuals by Adjusting Contrast
Understanding Contrast
Contrast controls the separation between light and dark areas. Higher contrast makes highlights brighter and shadows deeper, creating visual punch and clarity.
Steps
1. Open shader settings and find the Contrast slider
2. Increase contrast to make bright blocks (sand, snow, quartz) stand out more from shadows
3. Decrease contrast for a softer, more uniform appearance
4. Test in mixed lighting—sunlit areas next to shadows—to see the effect clearly
5. Combine with brightness adjustments: high contrast + low brightness creates drama; low contrast + high brightness feels washed out
Tips
Moderate contrast boost improves readability during gameplay without making the world look unnatural. Extreme contrast can create harsh, unrealistic lighting. Adjust contrast before tweaking saturation, since contrast affects how vivid colors appear.
