Control Bossbar Visibility Range

Understanding Visibility Range

By default, bossbars only appear to players within a certain distance of the entity. This prevents unnecessary rendering and keeps the interface clean during exploration.

Adjusting the Range

Modify the visibility range in the mod's configuration file. The range determines how far away a player can be and still see the bossbar. Increasing this value makes bossbars visible from farther away; decreasing it keeps them hidden until players are closer.

Practical Applications

  • Large arenas: Increase range so players see the bossbar as soon as they enter the boss area
  • Surprise encounters: Decrease range to keep the bossbar hidden until players are very close
  • Server optimization: Reduce range to minimize network traffic if you have many bossbars active

Testing Your Settings

After changing the config, create a test bossbar and move away from the entity at different distances. Note when the bossbar appears and disappears to confirm your settings match your desired gameplay experience.
