Using Boats as Safe Elevators and Drop Chutes Without Fall Damage
Why Boats Make Good Elevators
Because the mod removes the boat-breaking fall bug and the associated fall damage, a boat becomes a reliable way to move yourself (or cargo) vertically. You can ride a boat down a long shaft, off a cliff, or into a ravine and arrive safely at the bottom instead of dying on impact.
Setting Up a Drop Chute
1. Pick a vertical route — a mineshaft, a ravine wall, or a purpose-built column of open air.
2. Place the boat at the top, on a solid block right at the edge of the drop.
3. Get in and steer off the edge. The boat will fall with you inside it.
4. On landing, the boat should remain whole. Step out and continue.
Using It as an Elevator
Boats do not climb on their own, so pair the safe descent with a separate upward method — a water column, a bubble elevator, or a piston lift. The boat handles the dangerous downward leg; you handle the climb. For cargo, push a boat full of items off a ledge and collect it at the bottom intact.
Practical Tips
- Keep the drop path clear of blocks that could snag the boat mid-fall.
- Test with an empty boat first if you are unsure of the landing spot.
- Remember the mod only changes fall behavior — boats still need water or solid ground to rest on afterward.
