How to Stop Your Boat From Breaking When You Fall From a Huge Height

The Problem This Mod Solves

In vanilla Minecraft, a boat that lands after a long fall can shatter on impact, and you take the fall damage yourself. This happens at specific fall distances where the boat's own collision handling misfires during the landing tick. With Boat Break Fix installed, that behavior is corrected, so you can drop a boat from any height and it will survive the landing instead of breaking apart under you.

What to Do In Practice

1. Place your boat on the ground and ride it, or stand next to it if you plan to push it off a ledge.

2. Build or find a high drop — a cliff, a tower, or a floating platform works fine.

3. Send the boat over the edge. You can ride it down, or let it fall empty and then hop in at the bottom.

4. Watch the landing. With the mod active, the boat should stay intact and you should not take the fall damage that vanilla would have dealt.

Things to Keep In Mind

  • The fix applies regardless of how tall the world is, so it works in amplified terrain and custom-height worlds too.
  • If the boat still breaks, confirm the mod is actually loaded for that world — a missing dependency or a disabled mod will bring the vanilla bug right back.
  • This is a bug fix, not a physics overhaul. Boats still behave normally on water and land; only the fall-break behavior changes.
