Adjusting to Improved Mob Animations and Movement

Learning New Animation Patterns

Blue's Better Monsters adds full animations to all hostile mobs, making their movements more fluid and realistic. This changes how you predict and avoid attacks.

Animation Tells and Timing

Each mob now has visible wind-up animations before attacking:

  • Charging animations — mobs visibly prepare before lunging or striking
  • Turning animations — mobs rotate smoothly, making their facing direction clear
  • Recovery frames — after attacking, mobs have brief vulnerable periods
  • Idle movements — breathing, shifting weight, or other realistic behaviors

Using Animations to Your Advantage

1. Watch for attack wind-ups — the animation clearly shows when a mob is about to strike

2. Time your attacks during recovery — hit the mob after its attack animation completes

3. Use turning animations to predict movement — smooth turning gives you time to reposition

4. Exploit idle animations — mobs are less responsive during certain idle movements

Practice Tips

Fight mobs in daylight first to see animations clearly. Record or slow-motion observe attacks to learn the exact timing. Once you recognize the animation patterns, combat becomes more predictable and manageable, even against multiple mobs.
