Optimize Shadows for Better Visuals and Performance
Access Shadow Settings
In Shader Options, find the shadow-related controls. Bloop allows fine-tuning of shadow distance, softness, and quality.
Adjust Shadow Distance
Shadow distance determines how far from your character shadows render. Reducing this value improves frame rates significantly while keeping nearby shadows detailed. Start with a moderate distance and increase only if your computer handles it well.
Fine-Tune Shadow Quality
- Shadow Softness — Higher values create softer, more realistic shadows but cost more performance. Lower values give sharper shadows and run faster.
- Shadow Resolution — This is the most impactful setting. Lower resolution shadows render much faster while still providing depth and atmosphere.
Balance Aesthetics and Performance
Shadows are crucial to Bloop's visual appeal—they define the lighting system. Rather than disabling them entirely, find the lowest quality setting where shadows still look good to you. This preserves the shader's character while keeping your frame rate high.
