Why Won't My Raw Metal Block Smelt? Troubleshooting the Blast Furnace

Check the Furnace Type

This mod only allows raw metal blocks to be smelted in a blast furnace. If you are using a regular furnace, the raw block will simply sit in the input slot and never process. Break your furnace and craft a blast furnace instead, or move your raw blocks to an existing blast furnace.

Check the Input Item

Make sure you are inserting a raw metal block, not raw ore items or already-smelted metal blocks. Raw ore chunks (raw iron, raw copper, raw gold) are individual items, not blocks — those smelt into ingots in a normal furnace and are not the target of this mod. You need the compressed block form, which you get by crafting nine raw ore items together in a 3x3 grid.

Check Fuel and Output Space

  • Confirm there is fuel in the bottom slot. A blast furnace with no fuel will not start.
  • Confirm the output slot is empty or has room. If the output is full or holds a different item, smelting stalls.
  • If you are trying to smelt a raw block that the mod does not support (anything other than iron, copper, or gold), it will not convert. Only those three raw metal blocks are handled.

If everything checks out and it still won't smelt, try breaking and replacing the blast furnace to reset its state.
