Troubleshoot Skybox Not Appearing or Looking Incorrect
Verify Resource Pack is Active
If you're not seeing the Black Mesa skyboxes:
1. Open your resource packs menu (Options > Resource Packs)
2. Confirm the Black Mesa Skyboxes pack appears in the active list on the right
3. If it's in the inactive list, click it and select the arrow to move it to active
4. Ensure it's positioned above any conflicting skybox packs
Check Dimension and Weather
Skybox visibility depends on conditions:
- Overworld skies: Only visible in the Overworld dimension; Nether has its own sky
- End skies: Only appear in the End dimension
- Clear weather required: Rain, snow, or heavy clouds obscure the panorama. Use
/weather clearto test - Time of day matters: Evening skies differ from day skies; try different times with
/time set
Reload and Restart
If the skybox still doesn't appear:
1. Press F3 + T to reload resource packs without restarting
2. Exit to the main menu and re-enter your world
3. If issues persist, verify the resource pack file is complete and not corrupted by reinstalling it
The skybox should display immediately once conditions are correct.
