Optimize Skybox Visibility for Screenshots and Cinematic Shots

Preparing Your Scene

To capture the Black Mesa skyboxes at their best, eliminate visual distractions and maximize sky visibility:

1. Clear the weather: Use /weather clear to remove clouds, rain, or snow that obscure the panorama

2. Adjust time of day: Use /time set to position the sun or moon where you want it. The Overworld skies have distinct day and evening variants—experiment with both

3. Climb high: Build a tall tower or use /tp @s ~ 200 ~ to reach an elevation where the horizon dominates your view

4. Remove UI elements: Press F1 to hide the HUD, giving an unobstructed view of the skybox

Camera Positioning

For cinematic effect, position your camera to frame distant mountains and horizons mentioned in the skybox design. Avoid looking straight up; instead, angle toward the horizon where the atmospheric richness is most pronounced. Use third-person view (F5) to frame your character against the panorama, or stay in first-person for an immersive perspective.

Lighting Considerations

The skybox provides ambient lighting that enhances your builds. Position structures to catch this atmospheric light during golden hour (sunrise/sunset) for maximum visual impact.
