Improving Performance While Using Bitmap Vanilla Shaders
Understand the Shader's Efficiency
Bitmap Vanilla Shaders is designed to run well on older computers because it uses simple black-and-white rendering instead of complex color processing. However, performance still depends on your hardware and other settings.
Reduce Render Distance
Lower your render distance in Video Settings. The bitmap shader still needs to process every block in view, so reducing how far you can see improves frame rates significantly. Start at 8-12 chunks and adjust upward until performance drops.
Disable Unnecessary Features
Turn off features like fancy graphics, high-quality clouds, and particle effects if you're experiencing lag. These add processing overhead even with the simple shader active.
Lower Resolution if Needed
If frame rates remain poor, reduce your game resolution. Bitmap Vanilla Shaders' simple style remains clear even at lower resolutions, making this a viable optimization without sacrificing visibility.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch your FPS. The shader should maintain smooth gameplay on modest hardware—if it doesn't, your render distance is likely too high.
