Adjusting Contrast and Brightness in Bitmap Vanilla Shaders
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu while in-game. This is typically found in Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options or through a dedicated shader menu button. Look for Bitmap Vanilla Shaders in your active shaders list.
Fine-Tune Black and White Balance
Once in the shader options, you'll find sliders controlling contrast and brightness levels. These settings let you adjust how dark the blacks appear and how bright the whites become. Increasing contrast makes the bitmap effect more dramatic and easier to see in caves. Lowering it creates a softer, less harsh appearance.
Test Your Changes
Apply your adjustments and move through different environments—caves, surface, water areas—to see how the new settings affect visibility and aesthetics. The bitmap style can sometimes make certain blocks hard to distinguish, so balance contrast to maintain playability while keeping the cursed cartoon look.
Save Your Preferences
Once satisfied, confirm and save your shader settings. These will persist across game sessions unless you manually reset them.
