How to Harvest Honey from Giant Beehives

Locating Underground Beehives

Giant Beehives are subterranean structures that generate deep underground. They're filled with honey blocks and swarming bee colonies. Use cave exploration or strategic mining to find these massive hive structures. Listen for buzzing sounds as you dig deeper.

Protecting Yourself from Bees

Bees inside these hives are hostile and will attack if provoked. Wear a full set of armor for protection. Consider bringing a shield to block incoming attacks. Smoke from campfires or bee nests can calm bees temporarily, reducing aggression.

Harvesting Honey Safely

Mine honey blocks carefully using a silk touch pickaxe to collect them intact. Avoid breaking bee nests directly, as this triggers swarms. Work methodically through the hive, harvesting from the edges inward to minimize bee encounters.

Maximizing Your Yield

Bring multiple pickaxes in case durability becomes an issue. Honey blocks are valuable for crafting and building. The hive also contains custom loot chests—search thoroughly for additional rewards before leaving. Plan an escape route in case bee swarms become overwhelming.
