Identify Multiple Biomes While Exploring

Use Both Display Modes Together

Combine the current biome display with the look-at feature to efficiently map and identify terrain as you explore.

Strategy

1. Enable both "current biome" and "look-at biome" displays in your mod settings

2. As you travel, the current biome name will always show (typically in a corner of your screen)

3. Before entering new terrain, use your crosshair to scan ahead and see what biome you're about to enter

4. This is especially useful in modpacks with many custom biomes where visual identification is difficult

Best Practices

Position the current biome display in one corner and the look-at display in another to avoid confusion. When exploring unfamiliar terrain, frequently look around at different elevations—biomes can stack vertically in some modpacks. Keep a mental note or written list of biome names and their characteristics as you discover them. This combination makes navigation and resource gathering much more efficient, as you'll always know exactly where you are and what's ahead.
