How to Fix Music That Won't Play or Has Long Delays in Biome Music Mod

The mod specifically addresses vanilla sound-pool limits and transition delays, but custom setups can still fail. Work through these checks.

Check file format and naming

Every track must be a valid .ogg file. Files named outside the numbered pattern (for example mycave.ogg instead of cave1.ogg) are not picked up. Confirm the extension is lowercase .ogg and the number is within the supported range for that folder.

Check the pack and namespace

Make sure the resource pack is actually enabled and loaded — a pack that failed to load silently produces no music. Verify pack.mcmeta is valid and that your sounds.json entries reference the correct file paths. Reload resources with F3+T after any change.

Check the environment

Cave, night, and water tracks only play when the mod detects that condition. If you are testing cave music on the surface, nothing will trigger.

Reduce perceived delay

If transitions feel slow, ensure you have enough tracks per folder so the pool does not run dry; the mod smooths transitions better when multiple valid tracks are available.
