Reduce Grid Patterns in Large Water Bodies
Understand the Problem
Vanilla Minecraft repeats fluid textures on every single block, creating an obvious grid pattern across oceans and large lakes. This repetition breaks immersion in expansive water scenes.
How the Mod Solves It
Big Water Mod stretches fluid visuals across 4×4 block grids instead of repeating them every block. This breaks up the grid lines and makes water look more natural and continuous.
Apply to Your World
Simply having the mod installed automatically applies this stretching to all water and lava in your world. For best results:
- Use one of the built-in resource packs (Vanilla, Rekindled, or Stylized)
- Adjust the texture scale slider to match your preferred level of detail
- If using shaders, ensure they're compatible with normal maps for enhanced effect
The effect is most noticeable from high elevations or when viewing large oceans from a distance.
