How to Fix BetterHurtCam Not Working or Resetting
First Checks
If the hurt
camera still shakes after you changed settings, work through these in order.
1. Confirm BetterHurtCam is actually loaded — check your mod list for it and make sure it isn't disabled.
2. Reopen the config screen and verify your intensity value saved. If it snapped back, the config file may be read-only or being overwritten.
3. Check for conflicting mods. Other
camera or shake-related mods can override BetterHurtCam's behavior.
4. Make sure you're editing the config for the correct game instance or profile.
Keybinding Not Responding
If your intensity key does nothing, open Controls and look for a conflict. Another mod or vanilla action may already own that key. Rebind it to something free and test again.
Settings Reset Between Launches
A config that resets usually means the file isn't being written. This can happen with permission issues, a launcher syncing an old profile, or a mod manager restoring defaults. Try changing a setting, fully closing the game, and reopening it to see whether it sticks.
When to Suspect Another Mod
If disabling BetterHurtCam's effect changes nothing at all, temporarily remove other camera-affecting mods to isolate the cause. Once you find the culprit, either drop it or configure it to leave the hurt
camera alone.
Last Resort
Reinstall the mod cleanly and regenerate its config, then set your preferred intensity again.
