How to Configure BetterHurtCam for PvP and Competitive Play
Why the Hurt Camera Hurts Your Aim
In vanilla, taking damage tilts and shakes your view. In PvP that tilt can cost you a hit or a fight, because your crosshair drifts exactly when you need it steady. BetterHurtCam exists to remove that disadvantage.
Recommended Setup
1. Open the BetterHurtCam config screen.
2. Set hurt
camera intensity to its lowest value, or disable it outright.
3. Bind the intensity key so you can temporarily raise it if you ever want feedback.
4. Save and test in a duel or practice world.
Pairing with Your Playstyle
If you rely on tracking opponents, full disable is usually best. If you use damage feedback to gauge when to retreat, a very low intensity gives you a hint without moving your aim. Adjust until the
camera stays essentially level during a trade.
Things to Watch
Some servers and anti-cheat setups don't care about
camera mods, but always follow server rules. Also confirm the setting persists across sessions — if it resets, you may be editing a config that isn't being saved, or a launcher profile is overwriting it.
Result
With bobbing minimized, your view stays predictable, and your reaction to being hit becomes a decision rather than a fight against your own
camera.
