Open menus with commands and reload changes without restarting

Open a menu

There are several ways to open a menu:

  • Set command: under menu-settings so players type a custom command such as /shop.
  • Run the plugin's open command with the menu name, for example /openmenu warps. Admins can usually add a player name to open it for someone else.
  • Link menus together by giving a button an open-menu action, so clicking an item in one menu opens another. Use the exact menu file name.

Restrict access

Add a permission line to menu-settings if only certain players should open the menu. Then give that permission through your permissions plugin.

Apply your edits

1. Save the YAML file.

2. Run /bettergui reload to reload the plugin's configs and menus.

3. Reopen the menu to see the changes. Menus that were already open may not update until closed.

If a new menu command doesn't work

  • Check that the file is in the menu folder and ends in .yml.
  • Make sure no other plugin already uses the same command name.
  • Read the console right after reloading for errors that point to the line with the problem.
