How Better Zoom Works

Better Zoom is a client-side camera mod, so it runs entirely on your end and works on any multiplayer server without server-side installation. The core mechanic is smooth magnification: instead of a hard snap, the camera transitions in and out of zoom, and you can tune the zoom speed and pick your preferred transition style.

While zoomed in, use your mouse wheel to step through magnification levels smoothly rather than jumping straight to maximum. A separate secondary zoom key lets you toggle a second zoom level, which is handy for quick switching or recording.

The mod also integrates with the vanilla spyglass. You can have it replace the default spyglass view, add sound effects, or display the circular overlay. Because everything is configurable, you can keep the behavior close to vanilla or customize each part to taste.
