How to Disable a Mob Spawner with Torches
Place the Torches Correctly
Better Spawner Control disables a spawner when it is surrounded by torches. The key word is *surrounded* — you need torches placed around the spawner, not just one or two nearby. In practice, place torches on the blocks immediately adjacent to the spawner on all four horizontal sides, plus one more to reach the required count. A common, reliable layout is a ring of torches on the floor or walls directly touching the spawner's four sides, with an extra torch on top of the spawner or on a fifth adjacent block.
Make sure the torches are actually adjacent to the spawner block itself. Torches placed a block or two away, or on the far side of a wall, will not count.
Confirm the Spawner Is Off
Once the torches are in place, the spawner stops spawning mobs. You can verify this by standing nearby and watching — no new mobs should appear even when you are within the spawner's activation range. If mobs keep spawning, re-check that every torch is directly touching the spawner and that none have been broken or washed away.
To re-enable the spawner later, simply break one of the torches. The spawner resumes normal behavior as soon as it is no longer surrounded.
