How to Use Better Selection Mod

Better Text Editing in Minecraft

Better Selection Mod is a small, single-purpose mod that refines how you select and navigate text in Minecraft's text fields. It targets two common frustrations: awkward word-by-word movement and the inability to select text with the mouse.

With this mod installed, the "move by word" shortcuts (Ctrl+← and Ctrl+→) behave more smoothly, letting you jump between words in chat, signs, books, anvils, and other input fields with better accuracy. The mod also adds mouse-based text selection, so you can click and drag to highlight a portion of text instead of relying only on keyboard shortcuts.

This is useful when editing long chat messages, writing on signs, or filling in item names. There are no items to craft and no blocks to place — the improvements apply automatically wherever you type. Just install the mod and use text fields as you normally would; the refined selection and navigation behavior is active right away.
