Understand When You'll Respawn at Your Bed Instead

Bed Respawn Override Conditions

Even with Better Respawn Mod installed, you won't always spawn near your death location. The mod respects certain situations where bed respawning takes priority.

When Your Bed Takes Over

  • You die in the End — Returning from the End always sends you to your bed or world spawn
  • You die in the Nether or other dimensions — Dimensional deaths respect bed respawning
  • You're within the bed detection range — If your bed is close enough to your death point, the mod treats your bed as the respawn location instead
  • No valid nearby spawn found — If the mod cannot find a safe spot near your death location, it falls back to your bed

Practical Implications

This means you should:

  • Set your bed in a safe base location
  • Understand that dimension-hopping deaths won't use nearby respawn
  • Check your bed detection range setting if you want more control over when beds override nearby spawning

These safeguards prevent you from spawning in dangerous situations or far from your base when it wouldn't make sense.
