Retrieve Your Items After Dying in the Overworld

How Respawning Works

When you die in the Overworld, Better Respawn Mod will place you near your death location instead of sending you to your bed. This gives you a chance to recover your dropped items quickly before they despawn.

Steps to Recover Your Items

1. Note your respawn location — You'll appear in an area around where you died. Look around to get your bearings.

2. Listen for item pickup sounds — Your dropped items will be nearby. Move toward the sound or look for the item glow effect if enabled.

3. Search the immediate area — Items typically drop within a short radius of your death point. Check ground level and nearby blocks.

4. Collect before they despawn — Standard Minecraft item despawn timers still apply, so gather your belongings promptly.

5. Return to your base — Once you've recovered what you need, you can travel back normally.

Exception: Bed Proximity

If your bed or respawn anchor is close enough to your death location, the mod may still send you to your bed instead. This is configurable behavior designed to prevent spawn camping in multiplayer or to respect your set respawn point when appropriate.
