Create a Custom Color Theme for Command Highlighting
Setting Up Your Theme File
Custom themes are defined through resource packs. Create a new resource pack folder in your .minecraft/resourcepacks directory, then navigate to assets/betterhighlighting/ and create a themes folder if it doesn't exist.
Defining Colors
Inside the themes folder, create a JSON file for your theme (e.g., mytheme.json). This file maps syntax elements to colors. Common elements include:
- Commands: The root command name
- Arguments: Parameter values and selectors
- Brackets: Square and angle brackets
- Strings: Quoted text values
- Numbers: Numeric parameters
Each element accepts a hex color code. Reference the mod's default theme structure to understand the JSON format and available keys.
Activating Your Theme
Enable your resource pack in the resource pack menu. The mod will automatically detect and load your custom theme. Test your highlighting by typing commands in chat or command blocks to verify colors appear as intended.
If colors don't apply, check that your JSON syntax is valid and file paths match the expected structure.
