Understand How the Fire Overlay Works

Standard Minecraft Fire Behavior

When your character catches fire or stands in flames, Minecraft renders an animated fire texture overlay. This overlay scales with screen size and covers roughly the upper-middle portion of your view, creating a visual barrier.

What Better Fire PVP Changes

This pack modifies the fire overlay texture and its positioning. Instead of covering your center vision, the flames now appear only at the bottom of your screen.

The overlay still:

  • Animates and flickers like normal fire
  • Appears whenever you take fire damage
  • Disappears when you extinguish yourself
  • Maintains the classic Minecraft flame aesthetic

What changes:

  • Vertical position shifts downward
  • Height of the texture is reduced
  • Your crosshair and center view stay clear
  • Peripheral vision remains open

Visual Clarity vs. Immersion

You trade some immersion for competitive clarity. The pack prioritizes gameplay visibility over environmental atmosphere, making it ideal for PvP and technical work. The flames still communicate danger—they're just repositioned to not interfere with your ability to respond.
