Making Mornings Feel Natural: Using Smooth Transitions
What the Transition Does
Instead of the abrupt cut vanilla gives you, Better Days animates the change from night to dawn. The sky color, light level, and overall brightness shift gradually while you remain in bed. This is purely a visual and time-flow change — it doesn't alter world generation or spawn rules, it just makes the passage of time feel continuous.
Getting the Most Out of It
Sleep at a point in the night when you actually want to watch the transition. If you're in a hurry, sleep late in the night so there's less time left to accelerate through. If you want the full effect, sleep early and let the whole night roll past smoothly. Keep your render distance reasonable so the changing sky and lighting render without stutter, especially on lower-end machines.
Combining With Other Mods
Because the transition is gradual, shader packs and lighting mods will show the sunrise more dramatically than in vanilla. If you use a shader, test a sleep cycle once to confirm the transition looks right and doesn't clip. If you use mods that depend on exact dawn timing (mob spawners, daylight sensors), be aware the light level rises over the transition rather than jumping, so those devices may trigger slightly differently than you expect. Test in a creative world before relying on them in survival.
