How to Configure the Day-Night Cycle Length in Better Days

Finding the Config File

Better Days stores its settings in a config file generated on first launch. Look in your Minecraft instance's config folder for a file named after the mod. Open it with any plain text editor. If you play on a server, the server's config is the one that matters — client-side edits won't change the shared world's cycle.

Adjusting the Cycle

Inside the config you'll find options controlling how long a full day-night cycle lasts, along with separate multipliers for day and night if the mod exposes them. The values are expressed as a multiplier or a target length rather than raw ticks, so you scale the vanilla cycle up or down instead of setting an exact tick count. Increase the multiplier for longer, more relaxed days; decrease it for faster pacing. Save the file and restart the game or reload the world so the new values take effect.

Testing Your Changes

Load a world and watch the sun move. If the change feels too extreme, reopen the config and nudge the value again. Keep a note of your original settings so you can revert. On servers, tell your players the new cycle length so nobody is surprised by a night that drags on or a day that flashes past. Avoid setting night to near-zero unless you deliberately want to skip darkness, since that removes the challenge of hostile mobs spawning.
