How Sleeping Works in Better Days (Singleplayer and Multiplayer)

Singleplayer Sleep

Better Days replaces the vanilla instant-skip with a smooth transition. Get into a bed at night as usual. Instead of the screen cutting straight to dawn, time accelerates while you lie there, and the sky gradually brightens from night through to morning. If you get out early, the acceleration stops and the world returns to normal time flow from wherever it currently is.

Multiplayer Sleep Dynamics

In multiplayer, the mod scales time acceleration based on how many players are sleeping. There is no voting system and no required percentage threshold — any number of sleeping players starts pushing time forward, and more sleepers make the night pass faster. This means one person can nudge the night along without forcing everyone else to sleep, and a full server sleeping will rush to morning quickly.

Practical Tips

Coordinate with your servermates: if several people sleep at once, the transition completes much sooner. If you want to keep the night going for building or mob farming, simply don't sleep — partial sleepers won't force a full skip. Remember that mobs still spawn and behave normally during the accelerated period, so clear your surroundings before bedding down.
