Making the Green Checkmark Appear for Your Players

Why the Checkmark Sometimes Does Not Show

The green checkmark only appears when the client and server agree on both the modpack name and the modpack version stored in the config. If either side is missing the mod, or the strings differ, you get the red X or the default Forge screen instead. Getting a reliable green check is mostly about consistency across your distributed files.

Distributing a Consistent Config

Decide on your pack name and version strings once, then write them into bcc-common.toml (Forge) or bcc.json (Fabric). Place that identical file in your client pack, your server pack, and any update packages you publish.

When you release a new pack version, update the version string in the config as part of your release checklist. If you forget, players on the new build will see an X against a server still running the old string.

Avoid letting players edit these fields themselves. If a player changes their local config to "fix" a mismatch, they will break the check for everyone else's reference and may mask a genuine version difference.

After any change, restart the server and relaunch the client so the config is re-read. Then join once to confirm the green checkmark renders before announcing the update.
