How to Craft and Use the Different Brushes
Why brush tier matters
Brushing is the core action of this mod, and brushes wear out. The mod offers Iron, Diamond, and
Netherite Brushes. Higher tiers last longer and brush faster, which matters a lot when you are clearing a large fossil site.
Choosing your brush
Iron Brush: your everyday tool. Cheap enough to craft in bulk and carry spares.
Diamond Brush: for long excavation trips where you do not want to keep swapping tools.
Netherite Brush: the endgame brush, for players who plan to strip-mine entire fossil clusters.
Brushing correctly
Hold right-click on
Suspicious Dirt or
Fossiliferous Dirt and let the animation finish. Do not left-click the block, and do not break it with another tool first, or the contents are lost. Each completed brush consumes durability.
Field kit advice
Bring at least two brushes of your chosen tier on any dig, plus food and torches. If you are brushing underwater near
Guardian fossils, bring water breathing. Keep a spare brush in your offhand or hotbar slot so you are never stuck mid-excavation with a broken tool.
