How to Build with Rotten Wood Blocks
The rotten wood set
The mod adds a full family of Rotten wood blocks:
Rotten Log,
Rotten Planks,
Rotten Stairs,
Rotten Slab,
Rotten Fence,
Rotten Fence Gate,
Rotten Door,
Rotten Trapdoor, and
Rotten Pressure Plate. Together they form a complete building palette with a decayed, weathered look.
Where to get them
Rotten wood is tied to the mod's excavation and structure content rather than ordinary tree farming, so treat it as a scavenged material. Collect every piece you find while exploring fossil sites and ruins, and store it by shape so you can see what you still need.
Building ideas
- Use
Rotten Planks as the base wall of an abandoned shack, then break up the surface with
Rotten Stairs and Slabs for an uneven, sagging silhouette.
Rotten Logs work well as exposed corner posts or fallen beams.
Rotten Fence and Fence Gate make a collapsed pen or graveyard boundary.
Rotten Door and Trapdoor sell the "nobody has lived here for years" feel better than any vanilla wood.
Rotten Pressure Plate is perfect for a trapped, creaking floor in an adventure map.
Pairing with other blocks
Rotten wood looks best next to
Cracked Mud Bricks, Chiseled Bone
Blocks, and mossy stone. Mix shapes freely; the set is designed to look worn, so irregular placement is an advantage.
