Create and Add Custom Lore Books to Your World

Setting Up Your Book Files

Custom lore books are defined using JSON files placed in your mod's configuration folder. Start by locating the book config directory (generated automatically when you first run the mod), then create a new .json file for each story you want to add.

Writing Your Book JSON

Each book file should contain metadata like title, author, category, and tags, followed by the page content. The mod supports styled text, clickable actions, and interactive tooltips within your book pages. Organize related books by category to help players browse your collection logically.

Loading Your Books

Once your JSON files are saved in the config folder, type /rpglore reload in chat to load them without restarting your game. Use /rpglore list to verify all your books loaded correctly and check their IDs. If you encounter errors, run /rpglore validate [book_id] to identify syntax problems in specific files.

Testing Your Books

Use /rpglore give @s [book_id] to give yourself a copy and test how it appears in the Lore Codex. Check formatting, page breaks, and any interactive elements before distributing to players.
