How to Use Round Robin and Distributor for Even Item Distribution

What Round Robin Does

The Round Robin Upgrade makes the router cycle through its available destinations in order, sending one batch to each in turn rather than filling the first inventory completely. This is ideal when you have several identical machines or chests and want them filled evenly.

Setting It Up

Install the Round Robin Upgrade in the router, then attach multiple Exporters — one per destination inventory. Without Round Robin, the router tends to favor the first available destination. With it installed, items spread across all connected outputs. Combine with a Speed Upgrade if you need the distribution to keep up with a fast source.

The Distributor Block

The Distributor (marked BETA on the wiki) is a separate block for splitting a single input stream across multiple outputs. It's useful when you want distribution handled at the destination side rather than at the router. Because it's beta, test it in a creative world before committing it to a survival build — behavior may change between versions.

Practical Use Cases

  • Feeding multiple furnaces evenly from one ore source.
  • Splitting a farm's output across several storage chests.
  • Balancing input to parallel processing machines so none idle while others overflow.
