How to Filter Which Items a Router Moves (Whitelist and Blacklist)

Using the Blacklist Upgrade

By default a router moves everything it can. If you want to *exclude* specific items, install a Blacklist Upgrade in the router's upgrade slots. Items matching the blacklist will be ignored by the network entirely, so they stay in the source inventory. This is useful when you have a mixed chest and only want to route the non-junk items onward.

Combining With Other Filters

Bbl Routers also offers a Tag Filter Upgrade and a Mod Filter Upgrade, though these are marked as not yet implemented on the wiki — check in-game whether they function in your version before relying on them. For now, the Blacklist Upgrade is the reliable filter. You can also use the Ignore NBT/Components Upgrade if you want items with different NBT data (like enchanted tools or filled buckets) to be treated as identical for filtering purposes.

Practical Tips

  • Put your filter upgrade in the router, not the Importer or Exporter, so it applies network-wide.
  • Test with a single item type first, then expand.
  • If an item still moves when it shouldn't, verify the upgrade is actually inserted and the router is powered/active.
