Farm Bat Membranes Efficiently

Finding Bats

Bats spawn in dark caves and underground areas. Look for them in caverns below Y-level 0, especially in areas with minimal light. They're most active at night, but can be found underground at any time.

Setting Up a Farm

Create a dark chamber with low ceilings (bats need confined spaces to spawn). Use a spawning platform at least 24 blocks away from where you'll stand to collect drops. Keep the area completely dark—even torches will reduce spawn rates.

Killing Bats for Membranes

Bats drop one phantom membrane with a 0.75 chance per kill. This means roughly 3 out of 4 bats will yield a membrane. Use a sword or bow to kill them efficiently. Collect the drops quickly to prevent despawning.

Scaling Your Farm

The more dark spawning space you create, the more bats will spawn. Stack multiple levels vertically to increase spawn rates. Use water channels to funnel bats toward a collection point, then dispatch them in bulk for faster membrane gathering.

This approach eliminates the need to deal with phantoms while providing a steady supply of phantom membranes for elytra repairs.
