Create an Animated Particle Sequence with Timing

Building Multi-Step Animations

The mod allows particle arguments to accept animation sequences, letting you create complex visual effects that change over time. Each step in the sequence can have different properties and custom timing.

Setting Up Your Animation

1. Define multiple animation frames, each with its own particle properties (color, size, texture)

2. Assign a duration to each frame—this controls how long that step displays before transitioning to the next

3. Arrange frames in order from start to finish

4. Execute the animated particle command at your target location

Animation Techniques

Use timing to create smooth transitions between colors or gradual size changes. Combine different textures across frames for morphing effects—start with a dot, transition to dither, then finish with smooth. Stagger multiple animated particles at the same location with offset timings to build layered, complex visuals. Shorter frame durations create snappy, energetic effects; longer durations produce elegant, flowing animations. Test your sequences in creative mode to refine timing before deploying in datapacks.
