Identify Different Bosses by Their Bossbar Colors

Understanding the Color System

Barebones Bossbars assigns a unique color to each boss encounter, making it instantly recognizable during combat. Each boss type—whether it's the Ender Dragon, Wither, or other modded bosses—displays its health bar in a distinct hue.

How to Use Boss Colors in Combat

When multiple boss encounters are happening simultaneously or you're switching between fights, glance at the bossbar color to confirm which boss you're facing:

1. Note the bossbar color when you first enter combat with a boss

2. Reference the color if you leave and re-enter the arena—the same color confirms it's the same boss

3. Compare colors if fighting multiple bosses to keep track of which health bar belongs to which enemy

The color-coding system works alongside the minimalist icons displayed on each bossbar, creating a layered visual identification system. This is especially useful in modpacks with numerous boss types, where visual distinction prevents confusion during intense fights. The colors remain consistent throughout your playthrough, so you'll quickly memorize which color corresponds to which boss after a few encounters.
